The alleged assault on comedian Tahir Anjum by PTI worker Anila Riaz, which occurred near the Punjab Assembly, has been revealed as a staged event for personal gain. The police investigation showed that both parties had planned the incident in advance.
On July 24, Anjum, who heads the PML-N Culture Wing in Punjab, was assaulted by Anila after she accused him of making derogatory remarks about PTI founder Imran Khan. The confrontation was a setup designed to boost Anjum’s popularity within his party, with Anjum promising to help Anila travel abroad in return.

The investigation uncovered that Anila and Anjum had been in contact for days, met in a hotel to plan the staged altercation, and Anila had visited Anjum’s house before and after the incident.
