The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has enacted an immediate ban on the sale, purchase, and supply of fireworks and firecrackers across the district in advance of Independence Day. This measure, enforced under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, requires all Station House Officers to enforce the ban strictly, including monitoring key wholesale markets such as Nirankari Bazaar and Raja Bazaar to prevent illegal sales.
The ban addresses growing concerns about disturbances caused by fireworks, which have been increasingly used by children and youth, leading to significant noise and safety issues. Reports of continuous loud firecracker use have disrupted residents’ lives and raised safety concerns due to dangerous practices.
