In 2024, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has achieved significant wealth accumulation, propelling him to become the third richest person globally, according to a Bloomberg report. Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and head of Meta, surpassed Bernard Arnault of France, who is now ranked fourth. Bloomberg indicates that Zuckerberg’s net worth has risen to $184 billion, putting him in third place, equal to Arnault’s valuation.

This substantial increase in Zuckerberg’s wealth followed Meta’s impressive second-quarter earnings report, which exceeded market expectations. This turnaround is particularly notable considering Zuckerberg’s recent financial struggles. In 2022, his fortunes took a severe hit due to heavy investments in the Metaverse, leading to a drastic drop in his wealth by over $100 billion. At that time, Zuckerberg’s net worth fell below $35 billion, and he was no longer among the top 10 wealthiest individuals globally.
However, Zuckerberg made a strategic shift in 2023, focusing on real-world improvements for Meta and significantly investing in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. These adjustments have had a positive impact on the company’s financial health, resulting in a $55.7 billion increase in Zuckerberg’s wealth this year alone. His substantial holdings, amounting to 12.8% of Meta’s shares, play a crucial role in his financial status.
Meanwhile, Bernard Arnault, who was the world’s richest person in April 2024, has experienced significant losses this year, seeing a $23.9 billion decrease in his wealth. This decline has led to his current position as the fourth richest person globally.
Elon Musk remains the richest individual worldwide with a net worth of $229 billion, while Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, holds the second position with $190 billion.
