Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has suggested that Shan Masood, the current team captain, should change his batting position. Ali recommended that Masood move from batting at No. 3 to opening the innings in all formats.
On his YouTube channel, Ali advised, “Shan Masood sahab, stop batting at No. 3. You should open the batting across all formats. Playing at No. 3 could be detrimental to both you and Pakistan.”

Ali’s remarks came after Masood’s recent press conference, where he spoke about his experiences with Yorkshire and using the Kookaburra ball in County matches. Ali felt Masood should focus on Pakistan’s current challenges rather than comparing them to Yorkshire.
“He mentioned Yorkshire in his press conference,” Ali said. “You are the captain of Pakistan, not Yorkshire. Focus on examples from Pakistani players.”
Ali stressed the need to concentrate on Pakistan’s talent, mentioning players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, and advised Masood to focus on effectively leading his team, considering the differences between pitches in England and Pakistan.
