For the commencement of the Vitality Blast, Leicestershire CCC is pleased to announce the short-term signing of Pakistan international Naseem Shah.
After the Lucknow Super Giants advanced to the IPL playoffs, Naveen-ul-Haq, who is still in India, would be covered by the right-arm quick.
On Tuesday evening, Naseem, who can often bowl at speeds in excess of 90 mph, is expected to arrive in the UK. He will meet up with his new colleagues before Thursday’s away T20 match against Lancashire.
The 20-year-old has taken 191 wickets in his professional career to date, including 73 in Twenty20 cricket at an average of 29.75 and a run-contingency of under eight per over.

Precocious talent Naseem made his first first-class appearance at the age of 15, and in 2019 at the age of 16, he made his Pakistan debut in Brisbane, taking 80 wickets on the international arena.
He later developed into a crucial member of Pakistan’s white-ball teams as well. Naseem has played for his nation on 27 times since making his ODI and T20I debuts in August of last year. He was a mainstay as Pakistan finished second in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Naseem has previous Vitality Blast experience, having taken five wickets at an average of 20 for Gloucestershire during his stint in Bristol last summer. He was supposed to join Welsh Fire for The Hundred that year as well, but he cancelled after being chosen for Pakistan’s ODI series against the Netherlands and the Asia Cup.
The Pakistani star declared, “I’m very excited to be joining the Foxes for the start of the Vitality Blast,” after committing to the Club. I’m eager to get to know my teammates and support Leicestershire in winning games.
Director of Cricket Claude Henderson commented, “We are incredibly happy to have signed someone of Naseem’s calibre. Having Naveen in the IPL playoffs meant we had to make a speedy call.
He has established himself as a star in T20 cricket, and we eagerly anticipate his appearance in a Leicestershire jersey soon. Naseem will join the likes of Mohammad Abbas, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, and Umar Akmal as the newest Pakistani international to play for the Foxes.
