Fuel Truck Explosion in Nigeria Claims 48 Lives

On Sunday, at least 48 people were killed in a fuel tanker explosion in north-central Nigeria following a collision with another vehicle, according to the state’s disaster management agency.

The State Emergency Management Agency reported that the fuel truck crashed into a truck carrying travelers and cattle, and several other vehicles were also involved in the accident.

Agency spokesperson Hussaini Ibrahim confirmed the death toll of 48, with officials still working to clear the scene.

Recently, Nigeria’s state-owned firm NNPC Ltd raised gasoline prices by 39%, leading to continued shortages and long queues at fuel stations in major cities and towns.
