Adobe plans to introduce a new generative AI-powered video creation and editing tool later this year, named Adobe Firefly Video Model.
This beta release will expand Adobe’s Firefly suite, which currently includes applications for generating images, designs, and vector graphics.

The Firefly Video Model will enable users to create five-second video clips from text or image prompts, with options for specifying camera angles, panning, motion, and zoom.
This move positions Adobe to compete in the growing AI video generation market, already populated by tools like OpenAI’s Sora and Stability AI’s Stable Video Diffusion.
Alexandru Costin, Adobe’s vice president of generative AI, emphasized that the model is designed to meet high-quality standards expected by videographers, focusing on prompt accuracy.
The tool is trained on Adobe’s licensed or public domain content, ensuring it does not use Adobe customer content.
Additionally, Adobe is introducing Generative Extend for Premiere Pro, which can extend clips by generating fitting content to fill gaps, a feature that has received positive feedback since its preview in April.
