Pakistani Startups Showcase Innovation at Gitex Global 2024

Gitex Global 2024, the largest international technology and startup fair, kicked off today in Dubai, showcasing Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) and startup ecosystem to a global audience. Running alongside Gitex is the North Star Startup Show, where ten startups and incubators from Pakistan are gaining strong responses from countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia.

A total of 80 Pakistani companies and startups are participating in the event, with participants optimistic that their presence will boost IT exports to the Middle East and the MENA region. They also hope to attract investment for startups and forge partnerships with major IT firms in the area.

The federal Ministry of IT and Telecommunications has facilitated the participation of ten Pakistani startups through the Ignite programme at Gitex 2024. These startups, working in sectors like healthcare, aerospace, energy, gaming, travel technology, and smart cities, will showcase their innovative solutions to global investors and partners.

Adil Ejaz Shah, CEO of Ignite, emphasized that the event presents a tremendous opportunity for Pakistan’s IT industry and startups, noting that the entrepreneurial spirit of these ventures could help attract global investment and foster partnerships to accelerate growth.

Earlier this month, Pakistan was recognized as the ‘Tech Destination of the Year’ at Gitex Global 2024. This recognition underscores the country’s rising prominence in the global tech landscape. Pakistan’s participation, led by the Pakistan Software Export Board, highlighted the nation’s offerings, with IT and IT-enabled services being exported to 170 countries at significantly lower operational costs.

Gitex Global, one of the world’s largest and most influential technology exhibitions, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Harbour. The event features over 40 halls, focusing on advancements in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, mobility, and sustainable technology. Tech giants, startups, investors, and industry leaders are gathering to explore innovations and foster collaboration, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in shaping the future of technology.

Pakistan’s recognition as ‘Tech Destination of the Year’ further enhances its profile as an emerging hub for technology and innovation on the global stage.
