On Tuesday, the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that petrol prices will stay the same, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) will be increased by Rs 5 per litre for the next two weeks.
A notification from the finance ministry stated, “The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has calculated the new consumer prices for petroleum products based on fluctuations in the global market.”

It further mentioned that these prices will be effective for the upcoming fortnight, starting from October 16, 2024.
Following the adjustment, the price of petrol is now set at Rs 247.03 per litre, while high-speed diesel has increased to Rs 251.29 per litre.
It’s worth mentioning that just a few weeks earlier, on September 30, the government had announced a reduction in fuel prices.
Petrol saw a decrease of Rs 2.7, high-speed diesel dropped by Rs 3.40, and light-speed diesel was reduced by Rs 1.3 per litre.
