Mairaj Fed Up with Comparisons to Siddiqui

Siddiqui

Saleem Mairaj, known for his role in Josh: Independence Through Unity, has long been compared to Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Despite the years of comparisons, Mairaj expressed his frustration during a recent interview on Gup Shab. When asked about his resemblance to the Indian actor, he admitted, “I think I have been asked this more than 200 times. And I have to tell you, I just don’t get it. I don’t see the resemblance.”

Mairaj recounted an amusing incident where he was mistaken for Siddiqui by two women at a passport office. The women, who had recently watched Bajrangi Bhaijaan, excitedly believed they had spotted the Bollywood actor, ignoring the fact that it was Saleem Mairaj standing before them. “They did not recognize Saleem Mairaj standing right in front of them, but they definitely thought they saw Nawazuddin Siddiqui,” he joked.

The comparison between Mairaj and Siddiqui has persisted over the years, despite their different careers. Siddiqui gained fame through his role in Gangs of Wasseypur, while Mairaj made his mark in Pakistani television and cinema, with notable roles in films like Na Maloom Afraad and its sequels.

While the actors may share a physical resemblance, Mairaj’s recent remarks make it clear that he wishes to be recognized for his own unique contributions to the industry.
