Ruben Amorim, the current head coach of Sporting Lisbon, is on the verge of becoming Manchester United’s next manager. Reports indicate that United will activate Amorim’s release clause of €10 million, with the agreement finalized earlier today.
The move comes after the club parted ways with Eric ten Hag following a poor start to the season. Former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as interim manager during this transition period.

At just 39 years old, Amorim is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches. He was previously linked with the managerial position at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, but Dutch coach Arne Slot was ultimately chosen. Amorim also expressed interest in the West Ham role, which he later withdrew.
Amorim gained recognition when he led Sporting to their first league title in 19 years in 2021, followed by another title win last season. If appointed, he will take charge of a Manchester United squad currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League, following a fourth defeat in nine league games against West Ham.
