On Diwali, actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh shared the first picture of their daughter and revealed her name: Dua Padukone Singh. Posting on Instagram, Deepika explained their choice, writing, “Dua Padukone Singh | ‘Dua’: meaning a Prayer.
Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love and Gratitude. Deepika and Ranveer (sic).” Their daughter wore a red ethnic outfit in the photo.

The couple welcomed their daughter, born on September 8, 2024, with a heartfelt social media announcement, saying, “Welcome baby girl. 8-9-2024. Deepika & Ranveer.”
Previously, Ranveer Singh expressed his wish to have a daughter who resembles Deepika during his quiz show The Big Picture, saying, “As you know, I’m married now, and within a couple of years, we may have children. Your sister-in-law (Deepika) was such a cute baby—I look at her baby photos every day and tell her, ‘Give me one just like this, and my life is complete.’ I’m already shortlisting names.”
Deepika continued to promote Kalki 2898 AD during her pregnancy, though she’s now taken a step back from the public eye. Meanwhile, Ranveer has attended various events, including the trailer launch for Singham Again, in which Deepika also stars.
Ranveer mentioned that Deepika was occupied with their baby, explaining, “I take care of the baby at night, so I’m able to attend.” He added that their daughter even made her on-screen debut as “Baby Simmba” in the film, filmed while Deepika was pregnant.
