Punjab Enacts Three-Month Ban on Unauthorized Gold Mining in Attock

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in the Attock district, instituting a three-month ban on unauthorized gold mining activities to safeguard essential mineral reserves and protect the environment.

The home department is particularly focused on mining along the Indus River, targeting all minerals, including valuable placer gold, which plays a significant role in the national treasury.

The directive prohibits unauthorized mining and the transportation of mining or quarrying equipment along the Indus River.

The Punjab interior secretary confirmed that this initiative aims to prevent illegal extraction activities that endanger the region’s mineral resources and environmental stability.

The Punjab Home department has officially announced the three-month enforcement of Section 144.
