Elon Musk Raises Possibility of X Shutdown if Kamala Harris Wins the 2024 Election

Elon Musk, CEO of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), recently suggested that the platform could shut down if Kamala Harris wins the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

During his appearance on โ€œThe Joe Rogan Podcast,โ€ Musk expressed worries that a Harris administration would intensify pressures on X through heightened advertiser boycotts, driven by groups like the Center for Countering Digital Hate.

He described this nonprofit as a โ€œtotal scam organizationโ€ that operates like โ€œthe Ministry of Truth in Orwell,โ€ claiming it has significantly hurt X’s advertising revenue since his acquisition of the platform.

Musk believes that a Harris presidency could worsen Xโ€™s advertising relationships, stating, โ€œIf Kamala wins, weโ€™ll see that the boycott gets stronger. And theyโ€™ll friggin shut down.โ€ His remarks reflect ongoing concerns about government regulations and perceived censorship in the digital realm, a viewpoint he has previously shared while supporting former President Donald Trump.

His interview on Roganโ€™s podcast gained rapid traction, amassing over one million views within the first two hours, indicating substantial public interest in Muskโ€™s views on Xโ€™s future amid changing political dynamics.

As the election approaches, his comments have ignited discussions on social media, with some users echoing his concerns about digital censorship, while others worry about the potential loss of a significant social platform, revealing the tension between Muskโ€™s political beliefs and the diverse needs of Xโ€™s user base.
