The pair of Saim and Abdullah put up a strong 137-run partnership, with Saim falling just short of a half-century.
Abdullah carried on to finish with 64 not out, while Babar Azam contributed with 15 not out. For Australia, Adam Zampa claimed the only wicket of Ayub.
Earlier, Australia struggled with the bat, collapsing for just 164 in 35 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Shaheen Afridi’s 3/26 and Rauf’s 5/29, dismantled the Australian lineup.
Despite a strong 35 from Steve Smith, Australia was unable to recover from early setbacks. The victory marked Pakistan’s first over Australia at home since 2017, with the final ODI scheduled at Optus Stadium in Perth.
