Mumbai police have detained 42-year-old lawyer Faizan Khan from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, in connection with a death threat he allegedly issued to Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan. The arrest followed an investigation into a phone call made to Bandra police station in October, in which Faizan reportedly demanded INR 5 million from the actor, prompting police to file an extortion case.
Faizan Khan initially claimed his phone was lost and reported it missing on November 2, suggesting that the threatening call might have been part of a scheme to frame him. Despite his offer to provide a statement virtually due to safety concerns, he was detained after failing to appear in Mumbai for questioning.

Interestingly, Faizan has also filed a case against Shah Rukh, accusing him of hurting the Bishnoi community’s sentiments. He referred to a scene in the 1993 film Anjaam where Shah Rukh’s character kills a deer, a sacred animal to the Bishnoi, who have a tradition of protecting wildlife.
Mumbai police are continuing their probe and seeking transit remand to bring Faizan to Mumbai for further questioning in this high-profile case.
