Internet Users Face Ongoing Disruptions Across the Country

Internet users across Karachi and several other cities in Pakistan are experiencing severe disruptions in connectivity, leading to widespread frustration as slow internet speeds hinder daily activities. Both Wi-Fi and mobile data services have been affected, making it difficult for users to send and receive multimedia messages through popular apps like WhatsApp.

The issue is particularly troubling for professionals working from home, freelancers, digital marketers, and students attending online classes, whose productivity has taken a significant hit. In Karachi, areas such as Saddar, Liaquatabad, FB Area, and Gulistan-e-Jauhar are seeing the worst of these disruptions, with some users reporting complete loss of Wi-Fi connectivity.

IT experts warn that the internet slowdown is costing Pakistan’s economy billions of rupees daily. The telecom sector, which generates around Rs3 billion per day, is particularly affected, as 3G and 4G services form a major portion of its revenue. The slow speeds are not only impacting the telecom industry but are also disrupting other sectors that rely heavily on digital connectivity for their operations.

This situation underscores the critical need for long-term investments in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, particularly as remote work and online education have become essential parts of daily life. Addressing these challenges is necessary to prevent further economic losses and ensure smoother digital operations in the future.
