A Chinese delegation met with President Asif Ali Zardari and expressed significant interest in investing $1 billion to establish a medical city in Pakistan. The meeting, which also included Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers, and China’s Consul General, focused on enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations. The project is set to be Pakistan’s first fully integrated pharmaceutical and medical ecosystem and is likely to be developed in the Dhabeji Economic Zone, according to a statement by the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).
President Zardari emphasized the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties with China and highlighted opportunities for cooperation between investors and businesses from both countries. The Chinese delegation showed interest in various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, livestock, energy, transport, and manufacturing.

Zardari highlighted Pakistan and China’s historical and deep-rooted ties, noting that their interests and views on major issues are closely aligned. He also reiterated his vision for the development of Gwadar Port, aiming to turn it into a regional hub for trade and economic cooperation.
The President assured the delegation that Pakistan is committed to facilitating Chinese investments, welcoming their involvement and pledging full support. He further mentioned the introduction of Chinese language courses in Sindh as a way to strengthen cultural and public ties between the two nations.
