Robbie Williams’ upcoming biopic, Better Man, takes a unique turn by depicting the singer as a monkey throughout the film. This creative choice, spearheaded by director Michael Gracey and Williams himself, stems from the singer’s self-perception as a “performing monkey.”
Gracey explained the concept, saying, “Rather than showing how we see Robbie, we wanted to tell his story through how he sees himself.” The idea resonated with Williams, who humorously admitted that while he initially considered himself a lion, he quickly embraced the monkey persona.

Special effects studio Weta, known for their work on Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes, brought the character to life. The monkey’s eyes, a distinct feature, are scanned replicas of Williams’ own, adding an authentic touch to this unusual portrayal.
By embracing this symbolic narrative, Better Man promises a fresh and introspective take on the life of the former Take That star.
