Local officials confirmed the drone hit a high-rise apartment building in the city of 1.3 million people, damaging a skyscraper. Kazan, part of the oil-rich Tatarstan region, has been targeted in past drone attacks, though such incidents this far into Russia remain rare.
This strike is part of an escalating series of aerial attacks, highlighting vulnerabilities within Russia’s defenses and causing embarrassment for Moscow amid its ongoing military operations in Ukraine.
