The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has announced plans to introduce a Sightseeing Double-Decker Bus Service in Islamabad, set to launch in January 2025. This initiative, in collaboration with the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), aims to promote tourism in the capital city and offer a unique experience for visitors.
During a stakeholder briefing on Wednesday, PTDC Managing Director Aftabur Rehman Rana highlighted the government’s commitment to boosting tourism as a major driver of economic growth. The sightseeing bus service will operate twice daily, providing guided tours to key monuments and tourist sites across Islamabad. Visitors will also benefit from convenient pick-and-drop services from all major hotels in the city.

In the second phase of the project, PTDC, in partnership with the private sector, plans to extend the service to include weekend tours of nearby historical and tourist sites. These include destinations like Taxila, Rohtas Fort, Katas Raj, Kallar Kahar, Khewra, Takht-e-Bahi, Murree, Patriata, and Peshawar.
This initiative is expected to enhance the tourism experience in Islamabad and attract both local and international visitors to explore the rich cultural heritage of the region.
