Jon M Chu, director of the hit musical film Wicked, has promised an exciting sequel, set to release next year. Speaking to Reuters, Chu shared his excitement about fulfilling the vision for the beloved characters, calling the upcoming instalment “juicy and yummy.”

The first part of Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, pulling in $114 million domestically and $50.2 million internationally during its opening weekend. Based on the Tony-winning Broadway musical, the film tells the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
Chu, known for his commitment to inclusivity, emphasised the importance of casting authentically diverse talent in key roles. The sequel, he promises, will take the story and performances to new heights, leaving fans “satisfied with where we end up.”
Wicked: Part 1 will be available for digital purchase starting December 31.
