BCCI Rejects Including Pakistan’s Name on India’s Champions Trophy Jersey

BCCI

Tensions have escalated ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly refused to display ‘Pakistan,’ the host nation’s name, on India’s jerseys. The tournament, scheduled for February 2025, will be hosted in Pakistan and Dubai under a hybrid model due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has criticized the move, accusing the BCCI of “bringing politics into cricket” and violating ICC regulations. A PCB official expressed concerns about the precedent such actions could set for future events.

Adding to the controversy, the BCCI also declined to send Indian captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan for the captains’ meeting and the tournament’s opening ceremony.

Fans and analysts have voiced disappointment, urging the ICC to ensure fair play and adherence to tournament protocols. The ICC, meanwhile, has unveiled the official logo for the Champions Trophy, but the broader political tensions continue to overshadow the event.
