The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proudly declared the rapid upgrade of Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium as a world-first achievement in cricket. In a remarkable feat, the stadium was 99% completed in just 110 days, a record that has been hailed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Naqvi personally inspected the stadium’s hospitality boxes and the quality of the railings early in the morning. He expressed satisfaction with the progress but urged the workers to ensure the remaining finishing work is completed promptly, maintaining top standards. The renovation project is set to conclude soon, with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif scheduled to inaugurate the new-look Gaddafi Stadium on February 7.

As the venue gears up for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, the renovation will allow an additional 10,000 spectators, raising the stadium’s capacity to 34,000. This upgrade will significantly enhance the experience for fans attending the prestigious tournament.
The Gaddafi Stadium will host four key matches during the Champions Trophy, including the second semi-final on March 5. If India does not reach the final, the title clash is expected to be held in Lahore on March 9. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will take place across three venues in Pakistan and Dubai from February 19 to March 9.
To celebrate, the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy trophy has returned to Pakistan following its world tour and will be displayed in major cities, including Lahore, until February 15.
