An Indian national, Badal Babu, currently incarcerated in Mandi Bahauddin jail, has appealed to the court for permission to stay in Pakistan, asserting that returning to India would be equivalent to a death sentence.
He claimed to have embraced Islam and fears for his life if deported.
Badal Babu allegedly entered Pakistan illegally with the intention of marrying a Pakistani woman. He remains under judicial remand and was presented before a local court on Friday, where he once again pleaded to remain in Pakistan.

His legal representative, Fayyaz Ramey, informed News Guru via phone that the next hearing in Badal Babu’s case is set for February 21.
The court has also summoned the District Police Officer (DPO) on February 12 to verify whether the charge sheets have been submitted. During the hearing, Badal Babu emphatically stated that under no circumstances does he wish to return to India.
He referred to an incident in his village where a man who converted to Islam was allegedly murdered, with his mutilated body later discovered.
Fearing a similar fate, he insists that his life would be in grave danger if sent back.
His lawyer also disclosed that special security arrangements have been made for Badal Babu, ensuring he is transported separately from other inmates.
The legal team plans to visit him in jail soon to discuss further legal proceedings. Authorities have yet to announce a final decision regarding his deportation or continued stay in Pakistan.
