Acting swiftly, the police arrested the couple responsible for the abuse, and an investigation has been launched. Preliminary findings indicate that the incident took place 4-5 days ago, but the girl was only brought to the hospital today. Her condition remains critical.
The victim’s father passed away recently, and the police will officially register a case. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani reaffirmed that, following Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directives, child abuse in any form is completely unacceptable. He assured that the authorities have a zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes and that those responsible will be strictly punished.
According to reports, the girl was employed at the home of Rashid Shafiq, a garment shop worker. She suffered multiple injuries on her head, ankles, legs, and arms due to alleged torture. Her father passed away a month ago, while her mother is currently in iddah (mourning period).
The police revealed that a woman who taught the girl Quran lessons noticed her worsening condition and took her to the hospital.
The couple has been taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing, including questioning the woman who brought the child to the hospital.
