Erdogan Arrives in Islamabad for Crucial Talks on Pakistan-Turkey Partnership

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm welcome to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan upon their arrival in Pakistan, emphasizing the strong and historic brotherly relations between the two nations.

Sharing his thoughts on his X account, PM Shehbaz expressed his joy over President Erdoğan’s visit, describing him as a visionary leader instrumental in Türkiye’s transformation. He noted that under Erdoğan’s leadership, Pakistan-Türkiye ties have strengthened significantly.

“This historic visit provides an opportunity to take our strong relationship to new heights,” the Prime Minister stated, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Early Thursday morning, President Erdoğan, accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdoğan and a high-level delegation consisting of ministers, senior officials, and leading business figures, arrived in Pakistan for a two-day visit.

Upon landing at Noor Khan Airbase, he was warmly received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In his honor, a 21-gun salute was fired, and schoolchildren dressed in traditional attire enthusiastically welcomed him. A military band also performed to mark the occasion.

During his visit, President Erdoğan is set to engage in crucial discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, with a primary focus on strengthening bilateral relations.

A key event of the visit will be the seventh meeting of the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), co-chaired by PM Shehbaz and President Erdoğan. Additionally, the Turkish leader will deliver an address at the Pakistan-Turkey Business and Investment Forum.

Shortly, President Erdoğan will proceed to the Prime Minister House, where PM Shehbaz Sharif will officially welcome him. The Turkish leader will receive a guard of honor from the Pakistan armed forces, while Pakistan Air Force pilots will perform a flypast in his honor.

As part of his visit, President Erdoğan will also plant a sapling at the Prime Minister House. He and PM Shehbaz will hold a one-on-one meeting, followed by delegation-level talks during the Strategic Cooperation Council session. The visit will conclude with the signing of various agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration, followed by a joint press conference.
