PMD Forecasts Rain and Snow Starting Tomorrow After Dry Spell

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather warning forecasting rain and snowfall across various regions from February 19 to 21.

According to PMD, western winds are set to enter northern areas of Pakistan, bringing significant weather changes such as strong winds and rainfall.

Punjab, including Lahore and neighboring districts, is expected to see gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Areas like Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat may also receive rain, with effects spreading across other parts of the province.

Murree, Galyat, and other mountainous areas will experience rain and snow, with the potential for snow to extend to other regions in Punjab.

On February 19, light rain is expected in cities like Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar, while snow is predicted in hilly areas.

Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), advised tourists to be cautious and adjust their travel plans according to weather conditions. He also highlighted that the PDMA’s control room is monitoring the situation 24/7, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather. In case of emergencies, the PDMA helpline (1129) is available.

In addition to rain and snow, most areas in the country will experience cold and partly cloudy weather for the next 12 hours. Isolated regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northeast Balochistan may experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and light snowfall on the hills.

The recorded temperatures this morning in major cities were: Islamabad and Muzaffarabad at 7°C, Lahore at 15°C, Karachi at 22°C, Peshawar and Quetta at 9°C, Gilgit at 4°C, and Murree at 2°C.
