Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Hits Pakistan's Swat District, No Casualties Reported

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Pakistan’s Swat district and surrounding areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, prompting residents to flee homes and buildings in panic. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage have been reported so far.

According to the seismological centre, the epicentre was located in the border region between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. The tremors caused widespread panic, with people rushing outside as a precaution.

In an earlier, separate incident, Zhob district in Balochistan province experienced a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. The epicentre of that quake was 12 kilometres west of Zhob, with a depth of 22 kilometres, but no significant damage or injuries were reported.

Pakistan is situated in a seismically active region where earthquakes are common, particularly in border areas.
