PMD Forecasts Rain and Snowfall Across Upper Pakistan Regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted scattered rain and snowfall across several northern parts of the country today, while most regions will experience dry weather with partly cloudy skies. The affected areas include upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, northeast Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Islamabad, partly cloudy skies with intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day. Residents of the capital may also experience strong winds and brief periods of thunder and lightning. The weather department has forecasted more rain during the day, adding to concerns of potential disruptions.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is set to witness cold and partly cloudy conditions, with upper regions like Swat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar seeing rain and snowfall. Meanwhile, Punjab’s districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala, will experience cold weather with rain, hailstorms, and the possibility of snowfall in the hill stations of Murree and Galyat.

Balochistan’s mountainous regions, including Quetta and Ziarat, are also expected to experience rain and snowfall, while Sindh will remain mostly dry with a slight chance of drizzle in Karachi. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to face strong winds, rain, and snowfall, keeping temperatures low.

The PMD has forecasted the lowest temperatures in Leh (-4°C) and Parachinar (-3°C), as the winter spell continues in northern Pakistan.
