Aurat March 2025 to be Held in May in Respect of Ramazan

The Aurat March 2025 in Karachi will be held on May 11 instead of International Women’s Day, due to the holy month of Ramazan. The organizers, while addressing a press conference on Women’s Day at the Karachi Press Club, announced this change to accommodate domestic workers who face challenges participating during Ramazan.

Sheema Kirmani, a renowned social activist and founder of Tehreek-e-Niswan, highlighted the importance of honoring women workers, particularly those employed in domestic roles. She explained that many women expressed difficulty in leaving their homes for the march during this sacred month, prompting the decision to move the event to May, which also aligns with Labor Day and International Mother’s Day.

In addition to raising awareness about women’s rights and labor struggles, this year’s Aurat March will also address the pressing issues of missing persons in Balochistan and the ongoing struggles in Palestine and Ukraine, further broadening the movement’s focus.

The Aurat March has become a symbol of women’s empowerment in Pakistan, and the decision to hold it in May signifies both respect for religious obligations and a continued commitment to raising voices for justice and equality.
