Veteran Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh recently shared an incident from the sets of Jannat (2008), revealing that Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi ignored his greeting during their first meeting in Cape Town.
Speaking on the Ramadan show Baran-e-Rehmat, Sheikh recalled saying Assalamu Alaikum to Hashmi, only to be met with indifference. In response, Sheikh maintained his stance and refused to approach Hashmi for rehearsals, leading the director to eventually bring Hashmi to him. “If you give respect, you will get respect,” Sheikh remarked.

Sheikh, who has worked with Bollywood legends like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, expressed his surprise at Hashmi’s behavior, noting that even top stars address him respectfully as Javed ji. However, after two weeks of silence, Hashmi eventually started conversing with him.
The veteran actor humorously added that he doesn’t believe in taking revenge harshly but rather in a “soft and stylistic” way. The story highlights Sheikh’s approach to respect and professionalism in the industry.
