Hamilton Stunned by Sprint Pole for Ferrari in China

Lewis Hamilton was left “gobsmacked” after securing sprint pole for Ferrari in China, just his second race weekend with the team. The seven-time world champion set a new Shanghai circuit lap record, edging Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by just 0.018 seconds.

Hamilton, who struggled in Australia, admitted he didn’t expect to be in this position so soon. “I can’t believe we are at the front,” he said, expressing confidence for Saturday’s 100km sprint.

His Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, known for his one-lap speed, was 0.208 seconds slower, admitting Hamilton had the edge throughout qualifying.
