The dominance of Bollywood in India’s film industry is facing stiff competition from South Indian cinema, with its action-packed storytelling and massive fan following. This shift has propelled South Indian actors to the top of the earnings chart, surpassing some of Bollywood’s biggest names.
According to The Indian Express, Allu Arjun is now India’s highest-paid actor, earning around INR 300 crores per film and holding assets worth INR 350 crores. He is followed by Tamil superstar Joseph Vijay, who charges between INR 130 to 275 crores per film, with total assets valued at INR 474 crores.

Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan ranks third, with earnings between INR 150 to 250 crores per film and assets estimated at INR 6300 crores. Rajinikanth takes fourth place with INR 270 crores per film, followed by Aamir Khan in fifth, earning up to INR 175 crores.
Other notable names on the list include Prabhas, Ajith Kumar, Salman Khan, Kamal Haasan, and Akshay Kumar, who continue to dominate India’s box office. This ranking highlights the growing influence of South Indian cinema in the national and global entertainment landscape.
