Nomad Capitalist has released its 2025 global passport rankings, placing Ireland at the top as the most powerful passport in the world. The rankings consider more than just visa-free access, taking into account tax policies, dual citizenship allowances, personal freedoms, and international perception.
Ireland earned a total score of 109, allowing its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 176 countries. Greece and Switzerland followed closely with 108 points each, while Portugal and Luxembourg secured third and fourth positions respectively. Finland and Norway shared the fifth spot.

The United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, and Iceland also featured in the top 10, reflecting a strong balance between travel access and citizen benefits. Meanwhile, traditional leaders like Japan and Singapore dropped in rankings due to stricter citizenship rules and higher taxation.
On the opposite end, Pakistan was ranked 195th, making it one of the world’s weakest passports. Limited global mobility and other restrictions contributed to its low position on the list.
