Trump Launches $5 Million ‘Gold Card’ Visa for Wealthy Immigrants

US President Donald Trump has introduced a new “gold card” visa initiative, a high-end replacement for the EB-5 investor visa, offering American residency to wealthy foreign nationals willing to invest $5 million. The announcement was made aboard Air Force One, coinciding with a turbulent day in global markets following Trump’s new tariff measures.

Branded the “Trump card,” the redesigned metallic visa features Trump’s image and grants holders enhanced privileges beyond those of a standard green card — including residency, work rights, and tax exemptions on foreign income.

Trump touted the card as a fast-track for affluent investors, stating, “For $5 million, this could be yours.” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick revealed that 1,000 cards were sold in a single day last month, raising $5 billion in revenue.

The program, which sidesteps congressional approval, is being pitched as a bold overhaul of the outdated EB-5 system. Applicants will still undergo thorough vetting, but the primary draw is a direct path to US residency and potentially citizenship, while helping reduce the national deficit.
