Dr. Masood Sadiq, a distinguished cardiologist from Lahore, has been elected as the President of the Asia Pacific Pediatric Cardiac Society (APPCS) for a two-year term, marking a significant achievement for Pakistan’s medical community.
He becomes only the second Pakistani to hold this prestigious position, following Prof. Dr. Shahryar Ahmad Sheikh, who served in the late 1990s.

The election took place during the 10th Biennial Meeting of the APPCS, which represents a wide network of 23 nations across the Asia Pacific region, including countries like Japan, China, India, Australia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey.
As a pioneer in pediatric cardiac care, Dr. Masood is also the President of the Pakistan Pediatric Association and intends to leverage his new role to enhance pediatric cardiac care in South Asia, where there is a growing need for better cardiovascular health initiatives.
Dr. Masood, who has been honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and the PPA Centre Gold Medal for his exceptional service to children in Pakistan, aims to foster global collaborations, increase training opportunities, and improve care standards in the region. His election to this influential role marks a proud moment for Pakistan and promises significant advancements in pediatric cardiac care.
