Sher Afzal Marwat Suggests Mufti Taqi Usmani Sell His Mercedes to Support Palestinian Cause After Gaza Fatwa

Sher Afzal Marwat, a former PTI leader, has sparked controversy by publicly questioning the recent fatwa issued by renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani, which calls for jihad against Israel. Marwat challenged Usmani to demonstrate his commitment by taking action himself, suggesting that the scholar sell his rarely used Mercedes and donate the proceeds to support the Palestinian cause.

This statement followed Usmani’s address at the National Palestine Conference in Islamabad, where he declared that jihad in defense of Palestine and Gaza had become obligatory for Muslim nations.

He criticized the Muslim world for merely issuing resolutions and holding conferences, without taking real action to support Palestinian resistance fighters.

Mufti Usmani condemned Israel’s military actions in Gaza and called for a boycott of Israeli and allied products as a peaceful protest. However, he also emphasized that Islam advocates balance and does not support property damage or violence driven by unchecked emotions.

Marwat’s comments have sparked a mix of reactions on social media. While some have supported his call for personal accountability, others have condemned his remarks as disrespectful to a highly regarded scholar.

This exchange highlights ongoing debates in Pakistan about religious guidance, political action, and solidarity with Palestinians amid the Gaza crisis.
