Apple Gears Up to Enter Foldable Phone Market by 2026

Apple is preparing to make its long-awaited debut in the foldable smartphone arena, with reports indicating a product launch slated for the second half of 2026. BusinessKorea has revealed that Samsung Display has been chosen as the exclusive supplier of OLED panels for the device, thanks to advancements that minimize screen creasing—a key issue in existing foldables.

The upcoming device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch external display and a larger 7.8-inch internal screen when unfolded. Samsung Display is set to begin panel production by late 2025 or early 2026, setting the stage for Apple’s entry into a market already populated by brands like Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and OnePlus.

Analysts anticipate Apple could manufacture as many as 15 million units for the first wave, reflecting strong internal expectations for market demand. The design is rumored to adopt a near 4:3 aspect ratio, potentially offering seamless compatibility with iPad-style software and user interfaces.

With innovation at its core, the foldable iPhone is also expected to carry a premium price tag. Forecasts suggest it could be priced around $2,300 in the U.S., positioning it well above current flagship models from Apple and its competitors.
