Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a one-day visit aimed at reducing escalating tensions between Pakistan and India after last month’s deadly attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The visit comes as Islamabad denies Indian accusations of involvement and warns of possible Indian military action.
Araqchi was welcomed by senior Pakistani officials and is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss ways of defusing the crisis. Iran, maintaining strong ties with both countries, has expressed concern about the rising friction between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

The Pakistan Foreign Office highlighted that Araqchi’s visit demonstrates the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations and their shared interest in promoting regional stability. Discussions will also include broader regional and global developments.
Araqchi is expected to visit New Delhi later this week, while Pakistan continues to seek international support, including appeals to Russia and the United Nations, to address the growing crisis diplomatically.
