A shocking case of domestic violence has surfaced from Shantipur in West Bengal’s Nadia district, where a man brutally attacked his wife while she was asleep. The incident occurred on 2 May when Bapan Sheikh, reportedly obsessed with his wife’s looks, bit off and consumed her nose.
The victim, Madhu Khatun, also suffered a bite injury on her hand. The couple had been married for nine years and have an eight-year-old daughter. According to reports, Sheikh was an alcoholic who regularly abused Madhu and had previously threatened her with acid attacks.

Madhu filed a police complaint on 3 May, detailing the horrific assault. Ranaghat SP Ashish Mijya confirmed that a complaint had been received and investigations are currently underway.
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stronger action against domestic violence in India.
