WWE icon and Hollywood star John Cena recently made a rare public comment about his marriage to Shay Shariatzadeh during his appearance at the Amazon Upfront red carpet event in New York City on May 12.
Now 48, Cena—celebrated for both his wrestling career and rising success in film—was present to promote his upcoming action-comedy movie Heads of State, which is slated for release on June 2.

In a conversation with E! News, Cena briefly opened up about his relationship with Shariatzadeh, whom he wed in a low-key ceremony on October 12, 2020. “We try to turn these events into date nights,” he shared, referring to red carpets and film premieres. Grinning, he added, “She’s here with me and we plan to enjoy ourselves.”
Though usually private about his personal life, Cena seemed at ease as he spoke affectionately about his wife and expressed enthusiasm for his new film.
The Fast & Furious actor also praised his Heads of State co-stars, a cast that includes well-known names such as Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, and Jack Quaid. “Having a strong cast is key, because your performance is only as strong as your scene partner,” he explained. “We’ve got talented people working in an environment that lets them shine. The movie features incredible stunts and exciting action sequences.”
Heads of State represents another major step in Cena’s ongoing shift from wrestling superstardom to a successful acting career. Combining explosive action with humor, the film features a diverse and dynamic cast.
