The Naanbai Association has issued a warning of an impending price hike for bread, naan, and paratha following a sharp rise in the cost of flour and fine flour sacks in the market. The increase of Rs300 to Rs500 per sack in wholesale and open markets has sparked concern among tandoor operators across the region.
According to Shafiq Abbasi, the central president of the association, the price of a 79kg sack of red flour has climbed from Rs5,250 to Rs5,750. After factoring in transport and handling charges, the final cost at tandoors now touches Rs5,850. Similarly, the cost of white fine flour has risen from Rs6,400 to Rs6,700.

The association has demanded an immediate intervention to control flour prices, warning that if no action is taken, naan and paratha prices could see an increase as early as next week. This move could affect thousands of daily consumers relying on affordable tandoor items.
A meeting of the Price Control Committee has been scheduled to address the issue and explore possible measures to stabilise the prices and ease the burden on both sellers and consumers.
