NADRA has introduced a new digital system for birth and death registration at hospitals and healthcare centres across Pakistan. This initiative aims to modernize the civil registration process by capturing vital data directly from medical facilities, ensuring timely and accurate updates to the national citizen database.
The launch included formal agreements signed in Karachi between NADRA and provincial governments, with key officials such as Sindh’s Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani present. A similar agreement was signed in Quetta with Balochistan’s provincial authorities, marking a nationwide push for improved data management.

This digital upgrade aligns with the broader “Udan Pakistan” programme and supports the World Bank-backed “Digital Economy Enhancement Project.” The improved data infrastructure will aid the rollout of digital ID services and foster growth in the country’s digital economy.
By streamlining how birth and death records are registered, NADRA aims to provide more reliable data for governance and development, reinforcing the government’s commitment to technological advancement and citizen services.
