The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has unveiled a new initiative offering lifetime Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to Pakistani citizens who pledge to donate their organs. These special Smart National Identity Cards will feature a green heart symbol, signifying the holder’s humanitarian commitment.
Eligible Pakistanis aged 18 and above can obtain the marked CNIC or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) by visiting any NADRA registration centre or through the Pak-ID mobile app, making the process convenient and accessible.

In a parallel development, NADRA has also launched a digital birth and death registration system at hospitals and healthcare centres nationwide. This move, supported by agreements with provincial governments, aims to modernise Pakistan’s civil registration processes.
The formal agreement signing took place in Karachi, attended by key officials including Sindh’s health and local government secretaries, NADRA’s Sindh Director General Ehtesham Shahid, and Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, marking a significant step toward digital governance.
