An old case involving an Indian national in Saudi Arabia has resurfaced on social media, leading to confusion and misinformation. The man was originally arrested in 2015 after an image showing the Holy Kaaba replaced with a temple appeared on his Facebook account. He claimed he had only liked the offensive post and did not create or upload it.
At the time, Saudi authorities sentenced him to seven years in prison, 2,100 lashes, and a fine of SR 30,000. However, after converting to Islam while in custody, the Jeddah Criminal Court decided to cancel both the jail term and the flogging, upholding only the financial penalty.

Recent posts have exaggerated the case details, with some claiming the man received 7,000 lashes and suggesting the case is recent. These claims are misleading, as the legal proceedings concluded back in 2016, with no new updates reported.
This case serves as a reminder of how outdated incidents can be distorted online, especially when sensitive religious imagery is involved. Authorities have made no statements about reopening or revisiting the matter.
