A recent Punjab government report for April has revealed a significant drop in the overall performance rankings of districts in the Rawalpindi region. Rawalpindi district, which previously ranked among the top three, has plummeted to 26th place. Similarly, the popular hill station Murree has fallen to 25th place in the rankings. Meanwhile, Lahore district holds the 11th position.
The report highlights Bahawalnagar as the top-performing district, followed by Layyah in second place and Pakpattan securing third. Other strong performers include Rajanpur (4th), Vehari (5th), and Chiniot (6th), while Lodhran stands at seventh. Okara, Khanewal, and Rahim Yar Khan complete the top ten.

Mid-ranked districts include Mandi Bahauddin (12th), Faisalabad (13th), and Gujranwala (18th), with Sialkot at the lower end of the list at 30th place. The decline of Rawalpindi and Murree underscores growing concerns over administrative and developmental issues in the region.
This report serves as a call for urgent measures to address the performance gaps and restore confidence in governance across these districts.
