CM Maryam Announces Immediate Cut in Roti Prices Across Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday instructed authorities to immediately reduce the price of roti across the province following a recent drop in flour prices.

During a high-level meeting focused on commodity pricing, Maryam Nawaz directed the Price Control Department to promptly revise roti prices to ensure that the decrease in flour costs directly benefits the public without delay.

She stated, “The new price of bread must reflect the reduction in flour prices. I want roti to be affordable for every household, and this price cut should reach the people immediately.”

Maryam Nawaz pledged to lower bread prices to historic lows, highlighting the urgent need to address food inflation, which heavily impacts low-income families.

She also ordered officials to closely monitor prices of key food items such as chicken, vegetables, and pulses. Expressing concern about rising poultry costs, she said, “Poor children used to have chicken once a week. If chicken prices rise further, even that will become unaffordable for them — this is unacceptable to me.”

The Chief Minister urged enhanced market surveillance and strict measures against hoarders and profiteers to prevent price manipulation.

Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her government’s dedication to shielding the most vulnerable communities from the harsh effects of food inflation.
