Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and retired Captain Safdar, has announced his second engagement. The ceremony was held at the family home in Model Town, Lahore, and was attended by prominent family members, including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Mian Javed Shafi.
Junaid is engaged to the daughter of Usman Javed, who is the son of Mian Javed Shafi, a notable industrialist and close associate of Nawaz Sharif.

Mian Javed Shafi is a relative of the Sharif family and co-manages Ittefaq Group Industries alongside other family members, including the sons of Mian Tariq Shafi.
This engagement marks Junaid Safdar’s second. He was previously married to Ayesha Saif Khan, daughter of Qatar-based industrialist and former NAB chairman Saif-ur-Rehman Khan. The couple married in London in 2021 during Nawaz Sharif’s exile, in a widely noted ceremony at The Lanesborough Hotel, Knightsbridge.
However, they divorced amicably in October 2023, with Junaid confirming the separation publicly. Later that year, Junaid moved to Pakistan full-time to support his mother in her political role as Punjab Chief Minister.
Academically distinguished, Junaid holds two Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees from UK institutions. He graduated with First Class Honours in Politics from Durham University, earned a degree from the University of Cambridge in 2022, completed a Master’s in International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2020, and another Master’s in Global Governance and Ethics from University College London (UCL).
Additionally, he has represented British universities in international polo tournaments and is considered one of the most academically accomplished members of the Sharif family.
