The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided that all international players must now participate in domestic cricket tournaments, aiming to narrow the gap between domestic and international standards. This directive, announced during a high-level meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, is intended to provide emerging players with valuable experience alongside seasoned professionals.
Naqvi emphasized that playing alongside international cricketers will groom domestic talent and strengthen Pakistan’s cricketing future. “Only a strong structure of domestic cricket can help us bring forward the best talent in the country,” he stated. The meeting also included key officials such as Director International Cricket Usman Wahla, Head Coach Mike Hesson, and T20 captain Agha Salman.

Discussions covered preparations for upcoming home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka, as well as tours to the West Indies and Bangladesh. Wahla provided a briefing on the international calendar and player readiness, while Naqvi directed work on a new cycle of central contracts focused on performance and transparency.
The new contracts are expected to incorporate the domestic participation policy, linking player remuneration to their availability for domestic matches. The PCB aims to restore the competitiveness and credibility of domestic cricket, with a formal announcement on policy timelines expected soon.
